STEM Project Submission Guidelines
Submissions are now being accepted for STEM projects to be displayed during the AME12 STEM Festival, July 8, 2019 at the Fort Smith Convention Center. Youth (individual and/or teams of no more than 2) in grades 4-12 are invited to present and/or demonstrate projects during the festival. Youth, along with parents/youth leaders, should carefully read the following guidelines/limitations:
Guidelines/Limitations
1. AME12 STEM Festival project submission is open to all AME youth enrolled in 4th through 12th grades. The project submission deadline is June 17th.
2. All projects MUST be registered online through http://bit.ly/AME12STEM .
3. AME12 STEM Festival Review Committee will evaluate the projects and notify youth of their eligibility to participate in the Festival.
4. All team members should be fully involved with the project and know all aspects of the project.
The exhibits must NOT include any of the following:
· Microbial cultures or fungi, live or dead.
· Preserved vertebrate animals, whether whole or their parts (this includes humans).
· Photographs showing vertebrate animals in any abnormal the condition.
· Hazardous chemicals.
· Highly combustible solids, fluids, or gases.
· Controlled substances.
· Radioactive materials.
· Human or animal food.
· Project sounds, lights, odors or any other display items must not be distracting.
· Batteries with open-top cells.
· Electrical circuits/connections.
The presenter(s) presents to a broad audience, which allows for a deeper understanding of the scientific principles.
The presenter(s) explains the process to a variety of ages (Ex. young children, adults).
Presenter(s) are able to explain the Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Math behind their project.
Projects encourage student and community engagement.
Sparks interest to many people about STEM and shows that anyone can achieve it.
Everyone can participate!
